Watercolour Alchemy with Helen Poyser

Every watercolour pigment has its own properties. Different weights, speeds, favourite companions that blend or complement, shadow, highlight, soften, contain or expand. Some pigments shoot across a pool of water and remain at the very edges of moisture like a skin. Some sink heavily into the deepest recesses of the paper’s grain or slowly bleed outwards covering all.
After a tour of Helen Poyser's recipe studio exhibit, the workshop will acquaint students with a selection of Poyser's most valued pigments, recipes and application techniques, including how to mix a myriad of rich and beautiful blacks from primaries.

Not only will attendees come away with original artworks created from a unique grounding in colour theory, but also a riveting understanding of the secrets and unrivalled magic of watercolour.
