Water, Trees, Land: Communal Agency in a Grand Ecological Narrative
About this Event
Through two shared readings and an immersive visit to Hart House Farm, this program explores water, trees, and land as active participants in the ecological narratives we inhabit. Theory of Water invites a radical rethinking of relationships among the beings, materials, and forces that shape our world, challenging us to understand water in new and interconnected ways. The Genius of Trees takes us into the remarkable inner lives of trees, revealing their capacities and offering a new perspective on the complex workings of the natural world.
These readings will be brought into conversation with a visit to Hart House Farm, 150 acres of rural landscape within the Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Treaty territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. Through woodland trails, caves and crevices, ponds, open fields, and forest-lined hills, we will consider how we, too, participate as agents within a shared ecological narrative.
