Waste Audit at St. Pete Food & Wine Fest

Join the St. Pete Eco Club in partnership with the City of St. Petersburg for an engaging and educational Waste Audit at the St. Pete Food & Wine Festival. On November 1st from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, volunteers will help sort, measure, and analyze waste generated at the festival to better understand how much could be diverted from the landfill through recycling, composting, and improved sorting practices.

This hands-on experience will provide valuable insights into how large-scale events impact our local environment and what steps can be taken to make them more sustainable. By collecting real data, we can help shape future waste management strategies and support St. Pete’s citywide goals to reduce waste and move toward zero waste events.

All gloves, masks, and protective gear will be provided to ensure participant safety and comfort. Volunteers will work in small teams to separate recyclables, compostables, and landfill waste, while learning about the challenges and opportunities within our city’s waste stream.

Parking is at the North Shore Pool. (901 N Shore Dr NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701). We will be meeting in the Parking Lot prior to the event, and then from there we will pick a location and conduct the waste audit within the parking lot area. We will meet the volunteers in front of the Northshore pool entrance doors.
The volunteers will receive ONE general admission ticket for the event. We will meet on site. The volunteers will come in, check in at the security area on site. They will receive a ticket and park on site. Carpooling is preferred as parking spots are going to be heavily limited.
Volunteers need to meet us at 901 N Shore Dr NE at 2pm to begin the waste audit.

Participants who join the audit will receive free tickets to the St. Pete Food & Wine Festival as a thank-you for contributing their time and energy to this important sustainability initiative.
