**PEDAL WASH PARK…and get trashy!!**Join us for a no pressure, non-strenuous lazy ride where we’ll leisurely circle Wash Park by bike! Meet at 11:45am/depart at 12:00pm at Wash Park near the Kentucky entrance.
The loop itself is super chill—No worries about colliding with hardcore marathoners, there’s a dedicated lane for cyclists, and you’ll be able to take in the beautiful scenery with a relaxing ride on two wheels. Worried about a stray volleyball? It’s hard to hit a moving target and you’ll be gracefully gliding away as the ball bounces behind you. One thing we can’t control are the geese—but pro tip—there’s a good chance they’ll make a path and part like the Red Sea if you ring your bell and yell ‘ding ding motherf*cker!!’
In all seriousness, the goal of this ride is to welcome as many bodies on bikes that want to, in the least intimidating way possible. I never thought I would be a bike riding type, but here we are. It’s been a beautiful, amazing and fucking FUN journey for me personally—and I want more people to experience the joy and freedom of riding a bike, that maybe wouldn’t have otherwise thought they could.
After circling Wash Park, we’ll head out on the West side of the park at Kentucky. We’ll then cut down on Ogden to Tennessee, making our way to where Tennessee meets with Logan. There, we’ll hop on the wide sidewalk and safely cross over I-25 (this is one of my favorite places to cross!!!), and then make a quick right turn behind The Henry apartment building and take Sherman to Florida, arriving at Trashhawk.
There should be several spots out front of Trashhawk to lock up your bikes, but they’ve kindly agreed to let us park overflow on the patio if needed.
Public Transportation near start, Wash Park - the 12 bus line and the Louisiana/Pearl light rail station
Public Transportation near end, Trashhawk Tavern - the 0 bus line and the I-25/Broadway light rail station.
I’ll be watching the weather, and if it’s too cold or snowy, we’ll reschedule. Bring locks, layers, lights (if you plan on getting REAL trashy till dark), positive attitudes and smiles. Make sure cars and people see you before crossing and HAVE FUN!
