My friends and neighbors,The proposal to establish a residential college for 200 male students in the old NYU property in Sterling Forest is gaining critical mass. We are so grateful to every one of you who have urged the Town of Warwick Planning Board in writing to proceed with a full environmental review. (If you haven't sent a letter yet to [email protected], it is not too late; even a short note requesting a "positive declaration for a full environmental review under SEQRA" is sufficient.)
On Wednesday, April 16, the Planning Board intends to hold a public hearing at Warwick Town Hall (132 Kings Hwy) at 7:00 PM. Mass attendance at this event is about the most important and most effective means left to us to influence the decision of the Planning Board. Please plan to attend!!
We also want to get up and speak there, to articulate exactly why this project must undergo continued review and public input. To this end, our legal advisor has offered to give a training session on what to say, and how to say it, when speaking before the Planning Board. She may assign specific points to make, and provide concise language to use. It promises to be a most valuable, informative, and practical event.
The session will take place on Zoom, Wednesday, April 9, at 7:00 PM. All are invited to attend. A link will be provided as it becomes available.
Again, we are so grateful to everyone who has come together to protect Sterling Forest in all the various ways that people have helped: by writing, by going to meetings, by canvassing petitioners, by sending money, by disseminating information through social media, and by cheering us up in this effort.
