"You have cancer." Those three little words that no one wants to hear.
Those are the three words that my mom, sister, and I all heard over the last few years. The same reality faced by several friends and family members.
While my cancer was caught early and the only treatment I required was a mastectomy and preventative care for the next 5 years, unfortunately, too many others have required much harsher treatment, including radiation and/or chemotherapy.
As someone sits getting their chemo treatment, it can be very unnerving, uncomfortable, or just plain boring. We want to provide these warriors with gift bags to pass the time while receiving treatment.
Last year, we collected enough donations to be able to deliver 50+ bags to the Breast Care Center in Annapolis to be distributed to cancer patients.
We have set a goal to double that number this year!!
If you would like to support the cause, donations of activity books (word search, sudoku, crosswords, adult coloring), self care items (chapstick, lip balm, unscented hand lotion, hand sanitizers, reusable ice packs, cozy socks, throw blankets, scarves and hats), hard candies and gum for the Warrior Bags would be greatly appreciated!
Monetary donations are also accepted to purchase supplies.
We are open to any suggestions that you may have for fundraising ideas and to help make this a successful and meaningful event. All donations should be delivered to Dawn, Kelley, or Kim no later than October 16th.
This is our way of supporting others during their fight. The bags will be delivered the week of October 20th to both the Breast Care Center in Annpolis and The Tate Center in Glen Burnie MD.
Remember: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! Let's work together to bring a little joy to others fighting this horrible disease.
