About this Event
Recent archaeological and bioarchaeological research in the highland Andes has yielded new insights into the nature of warfare during the politically fractious period (A.D. 1100-1450) preceding Inka imperial expansion. Combining defensive settlement patterns and skeletal evidence of violent trauma from the Colca Valley of southern Peru, we discuss patterns of violence, fortification, and alliance-making in the region and the southern Andes more broadly. Hosted by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association, this event is free and open to the public.
