Born in Germany, Dirk has spent more than 30 years exploring North America. He is a renowned inspirational speaker in Europe, and his award-winning work as a photojournalist has received international recognition. Dirk has circumnavigated and crossed the United States by bicycle, paddled the Yukon River from source to sea through Canada and Alaska, and became the first European to descend the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers along their entire length. His expeditions have been adapted into television documentaries and featured on Germany’s leading travel podcast. He is also the author of several books chronicling his American adventures, published by National Geographic and Piper/Malik in Germany.
