This year, our nation commemorates and celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.
Walworth County Salutes America 250
Walworth County will celebrate 250 years of American independence with a day full of history, honor, and hometown pride at the Walworth County Fair. This daylong special event on September 3, 2026, will pack a patriotic punch.
Walworth County Salutes America 250 Event Schedule:
Pay tribute to our local heroes at a morning ceremony honoring local Purple Heart Veterans at 11 a.m. on Peggy's Park Stage.
Hear from special guest speaker Master Sergeant Shawn Souders, a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran with more than 25 years of distinguished service and leadership. A recipient of the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and multiple campaign awards, Souders' career highlights include 10 global deployments, frontline combat operations, humanitarian missions, and the invention of an emergency egress lighting system for amphibious vehicles. Join us as he shares his inspiring journey and commitment to service.
Step back to the Revolutionary War era with a captivating living-history performance by local re-enactor Dale Reich at noon on the Park Stage.
Experience the remarkable true story of Christopher Ludwig, German immigrant, master baker, and patriot, who rose to become the Continental Army’s “Baker-General” under George Washington. Through vivid storytelling and period costume, Reich brings to life Ludwig’s impact on America’s fight for independence.
Learn about the revolutionary impact of the U.S. Declaration of 1776 at the “Declaration 1776: The Big Bang of Modern Democracy” exhibit, on display throughout the day in the Walworth County America 250 tent.
Free giveaways: We’re celebrating America 250 by giving away 1,000 “Pocket Constitutions of the United States,” booklets, plus coupons for a free scoop of special America 250 red, white, and blue ice cream from the Farm Bureau to the first 500 people to stop by the tent!
A patriotic drone show will light up the night - 9 p.m., east of the Grandstand.
