About this Event

The Santa Barbara Literary Festival Keynote Pass offers reserved access to two separate keynote events at the historic Lobero Theatre, featuring acclaimed authors Walter Mosley and Kim Michele Richardson. One ticket grants admission to both keynote talks, making this a cornerstone experience of the Festival.

Together, these events showcase two extraordinary literary careers and offer audiences rare insight into the creative lives of writers whose work has shaped contemporary literature and historical fiction.

Walter Mosley: A Life in Letters

In this keynote address, Walter Mosley reflects on his remarkable career as one of America’s most influential writers. He will discuss his creative process, the evolution of his work across genres, and the themes that have defined his storytelling—from race and power to justice and moral complexity—alongside insights from his most recent book.

Kim Michele Richardson: History, Imagination, and Voice

Kim Michele Richardson’s keynote explores the deep research and emotional storytelling behind her bestselling novels. Drawing from her latest work, Richardson will discuss how she brings overlooked histories to life, her approach to character-driven historical fiction, and the responsibility of storytelling in illuminating the past for modern readers.

Keynote Pass Includes
