About this Event
It is nearly Christmas so why not join me on a walk that traces the legends and stories behind one of the best known Christmas Carols – “The 12 Days of Christmas.”
The story of Christmas has evolved over hundreds of years and now involves legends and folklore from many countries and sources. On this walk we are going to hear about how many of them came together to give us the full festive experience.
Not many people realise that the City of London has many connections with both the carol and the folklore associated with Christmas. For instance, did you know there is a link in London between a 4th Century Saint and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer?
Or that Moses was responsible for the “10 Lords a-leaping?”
Or the true story behind the first Christmas card?
And even the reason why Santa Claus is Red?
These and a whole host of other stories will put us in the mood to celebrate Christmas!
