This November, Cassandra Centre, alongside Let’s Grow, Gentlemen’s Health Hub, BMC Group and other community partners, is bringing people together for an evening awareness walk through Brixton as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
This year is particularly significant as we mark 25 years since Cassandra's death. We walk in her memory and remember all women and girls whose lives have been lost to gender-based violence.
💜 OUR JOURNEY
We will meet at Lambeth College, Brixton Hill at 5:00pm, before setting off together through the community.
Our route will take us:
Lambeth College, Brixton Hill → Tate Library at Windrush Square → Brixton Market → Brixton Town Hall
Along the way, we will be joined by banners, drummers and whistles, bringing energy, visibility and a powerful message to the streets of Brixton.
This is not simply a walk. It is a walk of remembrance, solidarity and action.
🕊️ A MOMENT TO REMEMBER
At Tate Library at Windrush Square, we will pause together for a minute of silence to remember the women and girls whose lives have been lost to violence.
We will then release balloons in their memory, followed by a powerful moment of sound and expression, with drums and whistles filling the space as we remember those who are with us but are currently unable to use their voice.
We will mourn.
We will remember.
And we will make our voices heard.
📣 MAKING A STATEMENT
From Windrush Square, we will continue our walk through Brixton Market before making our way to Brixton Town Hall, to the Mayor's Parlour.
We want our communities to see and hear us.
We want women and girls to know that they are not alone.
We want survivors to know that we stand with them.
And we want everyone, particularly men and boys, to recognise that ending gender-based violence is everyone's responsibility. Men and boys have an important role in promoting respect, challenging harmful behaviours and helping to create safer communities.

We are making a special invitation to men and boys to join this walk.
Your presence matters.
Ending violence against women and girls requires all of us to play our part. Together, we can challenge attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to continue and work towards communities where women and girls can live free from fear, abuse and violence.
☕ COMMUNITY & CONNECTION
We expect to finish at Brixton Town Hall at approximately 8:30 pm, where we will come together for light refreshments, including tea and cake, and an opportunity to connect with fellow walkers, community organisations and supporters.
