About this Event
Who fought for our democratic freedoms?
What can we learn from their struggles?
Why do they matter today?
Join us on the anniversary of the Chartist Convention - a major moment in the struggle for our rights - for a radical journey in the footsteps of those who fought for democracy, equality, and freedom, including the Chartists, Levellers, Suffragettes, and modern Anti-Fascist Movements.
The journey will take us from Putney (site of the Putney Debates during the English Civil War) through the heart of power in central London to Cable Street (where protesters defeated British fascists).
At each historic place, we will stop to share stories of struggle, reflect on their relevance today and hold an assembly, prefiguring the new way of doing politics.
All ticket proceeds will go towards the House of the People event in July - a landmark evolution in politics where 100 people selected through a democratic lottery will meet to discuss the state of the country, ultimately coming up with a list of demands to be taken to Government.
You can view the route . Please feel free to start your journey at any of the meeting points placed along the route. See the agenda below for the full list of stops and timings.
