You've heard of Sip 'n' Paint well this is Craft 'n' Chill on a Sunday afternoon : )

That's the vibe at these relaxing mindful craft session where each month you get to explore the mood-boosting pleasures of crafting.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Every month the activity is different but whatever it is, you'll get to experience the power of creativity in a relaxed space where you can take a break from your to-do list and make way for some creative and nourishing ‘me time’.

Techniques could include anything from painting and collage to mindful sewing and embroidery to origami, printing and papercrafts, it's usually kept underwraps, a surprise until you get there! Sessions are for adults and those aged 16+. Please bring a bag to take your masterpiece home in.

COMING UP....

SUNDAY 29th DECEMBER*: Celebrate Twixmas, that lull between Christmas and New Year by making a craft to inspire your 2025. Today the cafe closes at 4pm and our session starts at 4pm so please arrive by 3.50pm so you can order a drink / snack before we start, and don't worry you don't need to finish it, you can bring it into the workshop : )

WHY COME ALONG?

Engaging in creative activities has been proven to reduce stress levels and is super fun. These sessions offer a serene environment that allows you to tune out distractions and find solace in the present moment. Feel any worries melt away as you immerse yourself in the joy of crafts.

Creating something beautiful with your own hands is immensely gratifying and

you’ll also experience a sense of achievement and fulfilment as you witness your

vision come to life – take home your masterpiece as a reminder of your creative abilities.

All art and crafts materials will be provided at all sessions, and no prior artistic experience is necessary.

WHO'S RUNNING THE SESSION?

These sessions are run by Colour Therapist, Crafts Expert and Museum of Happiness Facilitator Momtaz Begum-Hossain. She'll guide through different ideas to

inspire your creativity.

WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?

Come hungry! The venue Well Bean Co, a vegan community cafe overlooking the Royal Docks waterfront in East London and you'll be able to purchase food and drinks that you can consume before, or during the session.

Personal menu recommendations:

Tikka Bagel and Lux Hot Chocolate : )

The nearest public transport is the DLR station Gallion's Reach.

WHEN DO SESSION TAKE PLACE?
These sessions are scheduled to take place on the last Sunday of the month, 4-6pm, but there may be some months there are changes so please check to see when events are listed and book before you come : )

Please aim to arrive on time so the session can start promptly - they aren't drop in, it's recommended you stay the full two hours to fully immerse yourself in the mindful nature of making.

WHERE IS MY TICKET DONATION GOING?

These sessions are donation-based and your full ticket price will be donated to the Well Bean Co, a community cafe and event space that has proudly been funding mental health initiatives since 2017. Here's a few words from them...

"Your donations for classes and events help us sustain and grow our vital community and mental health projects. From running costs to creating a safe, welcoming space for everyone, your support ensures that we can continue to offer meaningful events, workshops, and resources for our community. Together, we’re making a difference—one cup, class, and connection at a time."

ARE YOU FUNDED?

No. We do not receive funds or grants to run these sessions. Momtaz runs them voluntarily using her own craft supplies as she believes there should be no barriers to creativity and is keen to encourage more adults to do crafts to experience their wellbeing benefits. However, she could do with some assistance with supplies.

Please get in touch if you would like to donate any craft materials or make a donation towards purchasing materials that can be used in the sessions by all participants. In March 2024 two generous workshop participants donated £100 and this enabled her to buy additional supplies like canvas paper for painting, printing inks, glue sticks, tin for embossing and even candlemaking supplies. A little can go a long way in crafts, over 100 people benefitted because of them. Thank you!

If you have any accessibility requirements please email the organiser beforehand so arrangements can be made to ensure you have the best experience: [email protected].

See you at a crafternoon soon!
