Wailing Lodge

We would like to invite you to our first “Wailing Lodge” at Full Bloom Sanctuary. These times we are in (personally and collectively) are asking us to come together and build stronger relationships within ourselves and our communities. Life will often throw us curve balls and/or bury us in the weight of the world. We have found that an antidote is coming together, sharing honestly and expressing in the ways that our body is asking. This is a radical act of Social Justice where we are no longer willing to stay numb to the world, where we are no longer willing to stay separate and where we are saying yes to what it feels like to be fully alive and human. So join us for an evening of connection, community building and grief tending.

This “Wailing Lodge Ritual” is inspired by an offering our mentors lead at Sacred Groves on Bainbridge Island and they were initially inspired by a short grief ritual done with Joanna Macy.

Flow of the night: The evening will begin with introductions, a grounding meditation, song and personal sharing in small groups. Then we go into the heart of our ceremony. Accompanied by Djembe drumming & song, participants will be guided on how to use movement and sound to express what is in their hearts. After the ritual is complete, we will ground by enjoying a snack during closing shares.

Date: Saturday, March 8th

Time: 6 - 10pm (Please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early so we can start promptly at 6pm. We will close and lock the door at 6:00pm.)Sliding Scale: $40 - $70

Cancellation Policy: If you cancel via email by 6pm on March 1st (one week prior to the event), a full refund will be offered. After 6pm on March 1st, a refund is only given if someone from the waitlist or otherwise takes your spot. 

Suggested items to bring: 

• a scarf, sari, blanket or cloth to put under yourself during personal grieving
• altar items to represent your grief (pictures, symbols, art work, etc.)
• cloth handkerchiefs or tissues
• water bottle
• journal

BIO of Facilitators:

Mary Hart: Mary is an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Certified Practitioner, a trained workshop facilitator and Certified Trauma Recovery coach.  Tending her own sorrows led her to seek out and participate in many healing rituals over the years. Being introduced to community grief tending rituals (in the lineage of Sobonfu and Malidoma Some) was life changing and awakened a calling in her to unlearn the ideas of individualism and learn the sacred medicine of grieving as a community.  She has a deep commitment to reweaving the threads of meaningful connection and community through interpersonal relationships.  Mary has mentored with elders who grieved alongside Sobonfu and Malidoma Some, Joanna Macy and Angeles Ariens.  This calling has continued and she’s helped create and facilitate many healing rituals over the years. She brings her wholehearted authenticity and vulnerability to whatever she does.  

Jen George: Jen is trained in Shiatsu Therapy, Health & Life Coaching, Energywork and a variety of other modalities aimed to assist others to connect to their physical, emotional and energetic body. She’s been walking more closely with grief over the last 5 years since navigating the loss of three immediate family members. Learning and exploring ways to be alongside grief in community has been transformational and shined a light on something Jen wasn't aware of before - how undeniable it is that unexpressed grief deeply affects our relationship with ourselves, each other and the world. Because of this, Jen is committed to supporting others on their grief journey, individually and in community. 

Micaela Musterer: At a very early age Micaela was drawn to friends and family that were going through a challenging time in life. She instinctively leaned in and wanted to support them. Since then she has wanted to create a life where she can support others and herself in a meaningful way. This journey brought her to a variety of trainings including a college degree in psychology, yoga teacher training, apprenticeship learning moon cycles and ritual, herbal apprenticeship, death doula certificate and grief apprenticeship with Elders in the grief community. Micaela is committed to creating a space for community to come together where we can tend to life's wounds and create authentic connection with ourselves and others.
