Waiata Mai – Sing, Sing, Sing with Lisa Tui

Join Lisa Tui, Tainui, Ngāti Wairere, Ngāti Kahungunu, for a joyful morning of waiata, storytelling, and music for tamariki and whānau.
A singer-songwriter, performer, and educator, Lisa's musical journey spans classical, jazz, gospel, country, funk, and blues. For Lisa, performance is a way of sharing stories, strengthening connections, and bringing people together through waiata. With more than 22 years of teaching and facilitating singing, she creates welcoming spaces where tamariki and whānau can connect through music, te reo Māori, and shared experience.
Accompanied by guitar and ukulele, Lisa will share original waiata in te reo Māori in an interactive performance that invites tamariki to sing, listen, move, and explore sound together. Through music, storytelling, and playful participation, this special event encourages curiosity, creativity, and connection. This is an opportunity for tamariki and their whānau to share in the joy of music, play, and storytelling together.
This event is free and suitable for all ages.

This event forms part of Ihirangaranga: Creation & Connection, a multi-week programme presented by Te Whare Tapere from 13 August – 5 September. Drawing inspiration from the whakaaro of ihirangaranga, it explores understandings of sound as a source of connection, carrying memory and wellbeing across generations. Through music, movement, and shared creative experiences, Ihirangaranga invites people to come together, listen, learn, and explore the many ways sound connects us with one another, our communities, and our stories.
