Hi neighbours �Just over a month ago, something new started growing in our corner of Cape Town, the Vredehoek Market, a community market that takes place every Saturday from 8AM to 1PM at Good Hope Seminary Junior School.
This is more than just a market, it’s a purpose driven initiative created in partnership with the Sanlam and Cape Town Marathon to bring people together around fresh food, connection, and upliftment. Some of the produce is grown right on the school grounds, and the atmosphere has been carefully curated to reflect the warmth, care, and character of the Vredehoek community.
At the core of the market is a sustainable model: 50% of all profits go directly to the school, supporting teaching resources, maintenance, and the growth of a more vibrant learning environment. The other half helps keep the market running week to week and allowing us to build something that lasts.
We’re not rushing to grow too fast, the focus is on thoughtful vendors, good energy, and curating a space that locals can feel proud of.
