About this Event
Led by our National Trust Rangers, in this session we will be laying pond liner, building a fence around the new pond and hanging a gate. This project will create new beneficial habitat and increase local biodiversity. The fence around it will protect the pond and allow it to establish without interference.
Last year while working in the orchard at Efford Marsh Green we noticed that the ground was extremely wet, making it unsuitable for any recreational use. We searched the area for the source of the water and found a spring running from the top corner of the meadow. Creating a pond to store this water should reduce further flooding of the meadow while also providing new habitat.
We are documenting the process by making a step-by-step video of the project which we will share online. During the session a videographer and photographer will be on site with us, so please let us know if you feel uncomfortable with being in front of the cameras.
This is a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the Plymouth Natural Grid team who have been working on the site, and if you are interested in joining us on a regular basis, there will be an opportunity to register at the end of the session as a Plymouth Natural Grid Volunteer!
This is suitable for all those interested in the outdoors whether you want to meet other people interested in nature or are looking to learn more about it.
