FCC amateur radio testing session proctored by SMARS Club Volunteer Examiners.
Testing will be conducted for Technician, General and Extra licenses. These VEC sessions are held on the fourth Thursday of every even month.
Examinees should have photo ID, FRN number and a copy of their current license for General and Extra examinees. New Technician examinees are now required to have a FCC Registration Number (FRN) for the exam. For more information about registering for a FRN, please see https://tinyurl.com/yckrfdaj
Licensees also are now required to have a valid email address. The FCC no longer mails licenses.
$15.00 examination costs
The FCC released a Public Notice on March 23, 2022, stating that the amateur radio application fees, including those associated with Form 605 application filings, would become effective on April 19, 2022. The Federal Communications Commission's authority to impose and collect fees is mandated by Congress.
The $35 application fee, when it becomes effective on April 19, will apply to new, renewal, and vanity call sign applications. The fee will be per application.
ARRL Youth Licensing Grant Program to cover a one-time $35 application fee for license candidates younger than 18 years old. Read more at

Application fees will not be collected by the examiner. Once the applicant's examination results are processed by the Volunteer Examiner Coordinator
