How are you celebrating AMERICA250?

Step into history with a spirited stroll through Charlotte’s past.

VOICES FROM THE PAST is a unique living history event that invites guests to explore Charlotte’s historic cemeteries, Settlers', Elmwood, and Pinewood. Along the way, you’ll meet 25 costumed storytellers who bring history to life, sharing the amazing stories of the men and women who helped make Charlotte into what it is today.

VOICES FROM THE PAST is not a guided tour. It is a living history event unlike anything you've ever been to. The storytellers are at the grave of the person they are portraying. Visitors will interact with the portrayers as they stroll from one to another at their own pace.

AMERICA250 will be spotlighted throughout the day with "milestones" of Charlotte's history beginning with its Declaration of Independence on May 20, 1775.

VOICES FROM THE PAST is where Charlotte's 250-year history comes alive for the day, one story at a time. Whether you are a Charlotte native or new to the city, you will learn enjoy hearing the stories. And, we promise that before the end of the day, you will say, "WOW, I didn't know that"!

This year, we have the honor of her Majesty Queen Charlotte helping us celebrate this special anniversary. Bring your cameras for a selfie with the Queen!

All ticket sales and donations are appreciated. VOICES FROM THE PAST is a fundraiser benefiting Historic Elmwood Pinewood, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and restoring Elmwood, Pinewood, and Settlers’ Cemeteries.
