VJ Day Commemoration: Family Memorials in Belfast City CemeteryThere are nearly sixty fatalities - military and civilian - of the war in the Far East who are commemorated in graveyards in Ulster. Six military fatalities are commemorated on headstones in Belfast City Cemetery and this tour will visit the five plots that are within easy walking distance. After the tour, I will facilitate any attendees who want to visit the sixth plot.
One of the fatalities died as a Prisoner of War and the others died on Active Service. Although the tour visits a small number of locations, information about associated fatalities will be provided at some of the plots.
The tour will start from the car parking area at the Mortuary Chapel, marked on the cemetery plan (which also shows the approximate location of the plots to be visited).
There will be a £5 charge for the tour, which is being delivered under the auspices of History Hub Ulster.
