Join us on the second Tuesday of every month for our new Visible Mending Workshop at the Reuse & Repair Collective! Our inaugural workshop will take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM.
Learn how to give your favorite clothing and textiles a second life through the art of visible mending. This hands-on, beginner-friendly workshop teaches creative techniques for repairing worn, torn, or damaged items while transforming imperfections into beautiful, one-of-a-kind features.
Whether you’re patching a beloved pair of jeans, repairing a torn jacket, or refreshing a well-loved tote bag, visible mending is a practical and artistic way to extend the life of your belongings and reduce textile waste.
What You’ll Learn
Basic hand-sewing and mending techniques
Decorative patching and embroidery-inspired repairs
How to repair holes, tears, and worn areas
Creative ways to personalize your clothing through repair
How textile repair supports waste reduction and a circular economy
What to Bring
A clothing or textile item you’d like to repair
Any special fabric scraps, patches, or thread you’d like to incorporate (optional)

📍 Reuse & Repair Collective
No experience necessary. We provide the tools, materials, and guidance—you bring the item, and we’ll help you learn the skills to repair it.
This is a donation-based workshop. Donations help support community repair education and reuse programs throughout San Diego.
🚲 Parking & Transportation
Please note there is a steep hill leading to the entrance.
🚎 Public Transit: We are a short walk from the trolley and several bus routes.
🚗 Free Street Parking: Two-hour free parking is available on Beech Street and 6th Avenue. Street parking is typically plentiful in the evenings.
🅿️ Paid Parking: Parking meters and nearby ACE Parking lots are available.
🚲 Bike-Friendly: Free bicycle storage is available onsite.
✨ We encourage attendees to carpool, take public transit, walk, or bike whenever possible.
