Celebrating Innovation and Tradition in Central European Jazz
This event builds on the acclaimed success of the inaugural Visegrad Jazz Summit 2024, held in Přerov, Czech Republic. In 2026, the project reaches a new milestone, bringing together the Visegrad Jazz Orchestra (VJO) and the legendary "Father of Slovak Jazz," Peter Lipa, for an extraordinary musical collaboration.
The Creative Process
To ensure an artistically rich and cohesive experience, all performers will gather for intensive rehearsals prior to the concert. This creative residency focuses on fine-tuning the ensemble’s performance and mastering complex arrangements, blending the virtuosity of the orchestra with Peter Lipa’s iconic vocal expression.
Concert Programme Highlights:
The Future of Jazz: A major highlight of the evening will be the announcement of the winners of the Visegrad Jazz Composition Contest 2026. The audience will have the exclusive opportunity to hear the premiere of the three winning compositions, showcasing the creativity of the next generation of jazz composers.
Award Ceremony: Presentation of the competition results and the awarding of financial prizes to the talented winners.
Masters at Work: A performance of original compositions by the orchestra’s professional members and a curated selection of repertoire featuring Peter Lipa.
This balanced format fosters intergenerational dialogue and artistic exchange, offering the audience a diverse and compelling musical experience that bridges the gap between emerging talent and established legends.
Alongside special guests Peter Lipa and Martin Valihora, a first-class ensemble of performers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland will gather on stage. The confirmed performers include:
Saxophones and Woodwinds: Kristóf Bacsó (HU), Marek Kotača (CZ), Ondřej Štveráček (CZ), Grzech Piotrowski (PL), Erik Rothenstein (SK)
