Join us on Sunday, June 28th as we gather to honor the memory of Charlie Howard, whose life and legacy remind us of the vital importance of community, visibility, and unyielding solidarity. As we celebrate the joy of Pride, we also ground ourselves in remembrance and recommit to ensuring that our community remains a safe, affirming place for everyone.
Affirming Church Walks: We are actively collaborating with local affirming faith communities. We hope to coordinate several groups walking together from their respective churches, gathring at the bridge as a collective demonstration of solidarity and support.
Secular Walk: We are going to have a group walk from either West Market Square or Pickering area to the bridge, for those who would like to participate but do not have a faith based connection.
The Vigil: Once gathered at the bridge, we will hold a space for reflection, community connection, and brief remarks.
The Rose Ceremony: In keeping with tradition, we will conclude the vigil by casting white roses into the Kenduskeag Stream.
More Details Coming Soon: We are putting the finishing touches on planning, so keep an eye on this page as we will be updating it with specific route information and schedules in the coming days.
Whether you are a lifelong Bangor resident who remembers Charlie, a member of the queer community, or an ally standing in support, your presence is welcome and valued. Let’s walk together, remember together, and continue building a future rooted in compassion.
If your organization, faith community, or grassroots group is interested in participating in or helping coordinate one of the walking routes, please reach out to us directly either via message or email at [email protected]
