About this Event

Digital video viewing has become mainstream, and mobile is driving the growth, film and TV are big business and the UK continues to meet the growing demand for content and world-class skills, talent and technical expertise

The Video Accelerator is perfect for you if you are passionate about video and would like to explore various aspects of video making in a fun, practical and creative manner. Via practical workshops, presentations and hands on learning, the accelerator will provide you with experience and support in producing amazing videos, whether you use a smartphone, webcam, DSLR or professional camera.

Whether you're a YouTuber, blogger, vlogger, business owner, aspiring filmmaker, or just someone who wants to create videos, you will learn how to make professional videos with this course.

No previous experience in video is required as you will be introduced to all aspects of the process such as lighting, sound, editing and operating digital cameras. However basic experience with a film editing package will be beneficial.

Upon successful completion of the Video Accelerator, you will become a diploma accredited video professional. You may then wish to progress onto a Creative Process content production apprenticeship with one of the many employers we work with such as Warner Bros, ITN and BT Sport, develop your freelance portfolio or secure any number of opportunities in the video and film industry.

A limited number of desktops are available to reserve. If you are able to bring your own laptop please check that it meets following requirements: Memory: 16 GB RAM Operating System: High Sierra , Mojave or Windows 10

Video Accelerator at a glance:

A 4 week course, 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Thursday from 7th - 30th July

Completed in person at our Mac Training Centre in central Brighton

Awards a FREE nationally recognised Diploma


Video Accelerator course content:

Live shooting and the camera

Expose and compose better shots that tell your story

Come up with great video topics that people will love watching and sharing

Shoot amazing videos with DSLR, smartphones or even webcams

Light your videos with professional techniques, on a small budget

Record crisp and clean audio with different microphones in any environment

Editing and delivering a final cut


Eligibility and how we like to work:

• Aged 19 or above as of 31st August 2025

• Able to commit to a 3 week course

• Resident in the UK or EU for the last 3 years (to qualify for the funding)

• Priority confirmation of a place on the course if you are in receipt of any state benefits or are on a wage of less than £25,000 per year (payslip or benefit claim evidence required)

• Motivated and ready to secure a job and/or develop new digital and commercial skills

• Basic to good level of IT and digital literacy and be mac or PC proficient

• Minimum C1 level of English language proficiency

• Able to work in a team, on a collaborative basis, under pressure and to deadlines

• Good people skills and be mindful and respectful of how others learn (as well as an awareness that this may be different to how you learn)

• Respectful of people from different backgrounds, race, religion or gender orientation

• Prepared to take part in a way which contributes to the positive experience and enjoyment of the rest of the group

• Tell us about any additional learning needs you may have so we can assess if the accelerator is suitable for you
