How do we devise new work using clown, and image where everyone in the room is a writer whether they're acting, desiging, or directing.
About this Event

Rob McCloskey will be leading a practical workshop exploring how we devise collaboratively. How do we create theatre without starting from a script - how can a company navigate a creative process without a clear path of where we’re heading?
We’ll explore how we can make devising playful using clown and movement to generate strong images and explore how we can use play to form structure and keep things open
The workshop is best suited to actors, directors and writers with a desire to explore how we make work when not starting from a script, however the games and principles can be adapted and used in any work whether starting from a script or not.

What to expect:

- Exploration of frameworks for devising and principles for different stages of a devising process.
- The role of provocation in making devising playful.
- Games for story structure and finding ‘Crisis’ and ‘Climax’
- Games for freeing actors to generate dialogue and text.
- Moving between Simplification and Specification of material.
- Exploring the role of facilitating in collaborative devising.
- Principles for developing the complicity of a company to play.
