About this Event
Victorious Voices is a collaborative exhibition led by Carron Carson, clinical supervisor and psychotherapist, and Dr Dougie Marks, School of Medicine, Dentistry and Nursing. The exhibition is part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival and the launch will include a talk from artist Lee Cooper and presentation on trauma informed care.
About the exhibition:
In recent years we have seen a shift towards trauma informed care, and it is currently at the forefront of political agendas. However, despite these efforts child sexual abuse remains an invisible and isolating experience for survivors. It is with this in mind we have collated art from a range of individuals who have disclosed child sexual abuse.
This exhibition will display personal images from survivors ranging from pre-school through to retirement age and is a collaboration with Victorious Voices, a photography project aimed at breaking the silence around sexual abuse. It is hoped through sharing survivor images and narratives that the exhibition can expose the hidden depth of child sexual abuse, and what victims are doing to be visible in their disclosure journey.
