About this Event
Join Bel Pye in the Project Ability gallery to view their exhibition a soft place to land as they give insight into the process of making the body of work with rest and play in mind.
a soft place to land is an exhibition of textile sculptures, wall quilts and screen-printed hangings inspired by natural elements. Stitched by Bel Pye, this exhibition holds a sensory space within texture, play and rest. Most of the materials used are recycled or repurposed. a soft place to land has challenged the artist to increase the size of their work, as most of their previous work was lap-sized and often made whilst watching telly.
About the artist:
Bel arrived in Glasgow in order to study Contemporary Performance Practice at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since then they have worked as a facilitator, performer, writer and visual artist.
Bel is interested in the everyday art we make to survive hostile times. They try to respond to injustice through small acts of accessible protest. Bel's practice is fatigue informed and grounded in the queer, mad and chronically ill communities they live in.
