Veterans Day Volunteer Planting at San Pablo Bay NWR
About this Event
Join us restoring habitat alongside San Pablo Bay!
Point Blue Conservation Science and Friends of San Pabo Bay National Wildlife Refuge invite you to join us at the Sears Point Wetlands, also known as the Dickson Unit of San Pablo Bay NWR. Our main focus of the day will be installing creeping wild rye transplants along the shore of San Pablo Bay to provide habitat for wildlife and prevent erosion.
Tools, gloves, and plants will be provided in addition to training on planting techniques for native plant restoration. An overview of the importance of tidal marshes and high tide refugia habitat will also be discussed.
The work will be physical, requiring bending, kneeling, and walking on uneven terrain; we ask attendees to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes and layers that can get dirty. Don't forget your sunscreen, water bottle and hat!
We will meet at the at the Sears Point Trailhead parking area, which is located in off HWY 37, on Reclamation Road (where Lakeville Hwy turns into Reclamation Road). Please be on time so that we can guide people to the planting area. Please reach out to [email protected] for further information or if the event is at capacity and you would like to join.
We look forward to seeing you here at the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge!
