Veterans Back 40 Adventure: Oregon BDR
About this Event
About the Event
Veterans Back 40 Adventure (501c3), along with BDR Military Veterans, is proud to host a dedicated overnight waypoint for veterans currently riding the Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route (ORBDR).
Located just outside of Bend, at the premier Ride Adventures training facility, the VB40 staff are providing a high-water mark for your journey. This isn’t just a place to pitch a tent; it’s a mission-driven space designed for camaraderie, "dirt therapy," and re-charging your batteries before the last big push into the Cascades.
The Mission Support
We know the toll a long BDR stretch can take on both the rider and the machine. Our team is hosting this site to give you a chance to reset. We provide:
- Secure Camping: Prime space at the Ride BDR facility to set up your overnight kit.
- Provisions: Fully hosted dinner, cold drinks, and a solid breakfast to fuel your next leg.
- The "Back 40" Community: A chance to swap trail intel and stories with fellow veterans in a low-pressure, high-impact environment.
Logistics & Date Range
Operational Window: VB40 staff will be onsite beginning 16 July and departing 19 July once the last person is accounted for.
- Location: Ride BDR Facility (Outside Bend, OR), exact location will be given to riders after sign up.
- Eligibility: Open to all military veterans and active-duty service members currently on the trail.
- Registration: As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, this event is hosted for our veterans at no cost. However, RSVP is required via Eventbrite so we can secure enough chow and supplies for the group. We are making room for 15 riders each day on 16, 17, 18 July.
- NOTE: You only need to register for the day you plan to arrive at our camp during the BDR journey. We will be hosting different veterans each night as they pass through this leg of the route. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR MULTIPLE DAYS.
What to Bring
This is a self-supported riding event. Please ensure you have:
- Your standard BDR camping/sleep system.
- Proper riding gear and a trail-ready motorcycle.
The Veterans Back 40 Adventure team are veterans helping veterans by providing with the tools and community found in handlebar therapy. Come off the trail for a night, grab a plate, a frosty cold beverage, and recharge with us.
