Les fleurs j’en ai besoin. Surtout par les temps qui courent, où tout semble nous bousculer. Elles deviennent essentielles. Elles font du bien. J’en ai mis partout. Ou presque. Par souci de partage. Pour semer un peu de douceur. Parce qu’une fleur, c’est beau.

Flowers — I need them. Especially these days, when everything seems so overwhelming. They’ve become essential. They do us good. So I’ve put them everywhere. Or almost. To share a little beauty. To sow a little softness. Simply because a flower is beautiful.
Denis Dulude - Biography
As a visual artist, Denis Dulude is quickly known for his unconventional graphic style and his affection for typography. After a career of fifteen years as a ballet dancer, Denis Dulude graduated from his self-taught classes in 1993. To avoid job rejections, he founded his own studio, K.O. création and the first digital type library in Quebec, 2Rebels in 1995. He has been creating film credits and television graphics since 1996. In 2010, he created his first exhibition of silkscreen works, a medium that fascinates him and that he has been practising since 2005. Dulude directed his first short film, Sleeping In in 2016, and If God exists, his second in 2020. He has been invited to give lectures in America and Europe, his work has been published in several books and magazines. He is represented by Galerie St-Laurent + Hill in Ottawa. From his studio in Montréal, Denis continues to explore visual art above all through his intuitive research that mixes images and words.
Denis Dulude - Process
My process is intuitive. This is the space where I love to create. Silkscreening lights me up. Collage too. Painting. Photography. I’m self-taught. I learned to observe. What’s left on the ground. The passage of time on building walls. Posters that fade. Dust that traces its path. Time that leaves its mark. This aesthetic speaks to me. Draws me in. Guides me. Inspires me. I love it when it’s graphical. I’ve been practicing in this area for 30 years. Inspired by the streets. Nature. Films. Moving images. Paper. Imagery. Especially typography. A story, a fragment of text, a photo. A drawing. I love the smell of ink. Raw canvas and paint. Glue. Stains on wood. Concrete. I mess with digital to make it look analog. Photocopy powder, sandpaper, X-ACTO, brush. This is me. Intuitively.
