Elle Sherlock - 7:45pm
Elle Sherlock is a Canadian dark-pop artist and songwriter whose music lives in the tension between beauty and brutality, vulnerability and power. Blending cinematic alternative pop with elements of trip-hop, industrial music and jazz, she pairs striking vocals with sharp, conversational songwriting and a distinctly noir sensibility.
Her debut single, The Edge, introduces a body of work recorded at Studio Cimetière, a converted church in rural Quebec. Dark, intimate and quietly dangerous, the song casts Elle as a femme fatale speaking to a doomed lover caught in his inevitable pull toward self-destruction.
Raised against the stark backdrop of the Canadian North and now based in Ottawa, Elle’s songs are populated by complicated characters, bad decisions, obsession, survival and the strange things people do in the name of love. The Edge is the first glimpse of her forthcoming debut album.
