Make a Venetian style mask as part of the ‘Little Italy by the Sea Festival 2024.
Join us at Shipwrecks Museum to decorate your own Venetian mask, as we celebrate the grand Carnivale tradition of Venice, the jewel of the northern coast of Italy.
Masks as a costume and disguise have a long tradition in Venice, where during specific festivals some social rules could be turned ‘upside-down’.
Carnivale allowed Venetian people to let off steam: offering a short time in the calendar where masked playfulness, high spirits and rascally fun were acceptable behaviour in the community.
It is going to be AWESOME FUN FOR THE KIDS!
