This acappella-driven, rhythm-centric live show is highly interactive and intimate, striking a unique balance of performance, play, ritual and house party.
Earth Practice is the DIY song collective of Jessi ‘Jiji’ Rado, BJ ‘Yam’ Dwyer and Yin Friend. As artists and community singers, the trio believes that music is a shared language between people, and a medicine by which communities are made stronger and more vibrant.
Originally from Philadelphia, PA (Lennie Lenape Territory), the group currently live on the Coast Salish lands of the Lummi and Nooksack people (Bellingham, WA). They have been singing together and creating family since 2017.

Each artist brings their own unique work into the collective field of emergent creativity. Jessi is a community-based artist and teacher who likes to activate public spaces for healing. Yam (also ‘Yambaby’) is a prolific song carrier, rhythmist and grief tender with a special focus on community singing & men’s grief work. Yin is a vocal support friend who helps folks connect with their own unique voice in 1-1 and group settings. Yam & Jessi also produce and co-host the singing podcast Bliss is Ordinary, a show that chronicles stories of how people use song to better understand themselves and the world around them. With their combined offerings and gifts, the members of Earth Practice spin an arc of experience that spans emotional landscapes with spontaneity, play and love.
COMMUNITY GRIEF CHOIR WORKSHOP
Join us earlier in the day for a special workshop / sacred space offered by Yin & Yam of Earth Practice focused primarily on guiding participants through songs that will help support them in the composting of unexpressed grief.
Through collaborative singing, rhythm, and embodied movement we will access and express our grief, our praise and the many emotional currents that move in our depths but are so often ignored, rejected or shamed in our pre-dominant monoculture.
Yin & Yam offer this with the intention of holding space for communities as they learn how to acknowledge and transform personal and global grief into something that opens us up to the true preciousness of life; something that is beautiful, generative and nourishing for each of us, our loved ones and the greater web of life of which we are all a part.
