Harambe was a Western lowland gorilla shot and killed at the Cincinnati Zoo on May 28, 2016, after a young child fell into his enclosure, leading to international controversy and debate over animal captivity ethics, zoo safety, and the decision to use lethal force, with his death becoming a significant internet meme.
8:00 pm - Gather at Vancouver Art Gallery and opening remarks
8:15 pm - March through downtown Vancouver starting and ending at the Art Gallery.
~ 9:15 pm - Candlelight vigil and closing remarks
Bring signs, totems, music, effigies, art and/or whatever you want (within reason) to honor the memory of Harambe. Gorilla costumes strongly encouraged.
This event is rain or shine. Bring an umbrella.
