About this Event

Please join us for our in-town, indoor lecture series!

Dr. Douglass will discuss ongoing research aimed at improving water quality and ecosystem health by conserving and restoring beneficial plant and animal communities in coastal watersheds and estuaries.

James Douglass is an ecologist who works to understand and protect coastal and marine environments. He grew up in Washington state, received his BS in Biology at Rice University in Texas, and got a PhD in Marine Science from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He worked at the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce, Florida and the Northeastern University Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts before joining the faculty of Florida Gulf Coast University in 2012. At FGCU, Dr. Douglass collaborates with students and colleagues on research involving seagrass ecosystems, clams and oysters, freshwater/wetland plant communities, and offshore habitats on the continental shelf of Southwest Florida.

Light refreshments start at 6:30 pm, Lecture will be 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
