SEEfest invites you to an extraordinary cinematic event -- a rare theatrical screening of the Cannes classic, VALLEY OF PEACE:

VALLEY OF PEACE is a 1956 Yugoslavian (Slovenian) war film directed by France Štiglic. It was in competition at the 1957 Cannes Film Festival, where John Kitzmiller received the Best Actor award for his role as Sgt. Jim. Kitzmiller made history as the first Black actor to win the Best Actor at Cannes. Despite his groundbreaking achievement, Kitzmiller remains virtually unknown in the U.S., making this long-overdue celebration of his trailblazing career all the more significant.

The film was selected for screening as part of the Cannes Classics section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.

Synopsis: During WWII in Slovenia, two orphaned children seeking the imaginary Valley of Peace run into a downed black American pilot who tries to protect them from the Germans until the Yugoslav Partisans arrive.

This movie is in Slovenian language with English subtitles.

Attendees will be allowed to enter the auditorium up to 60 minutes prior to show time.

Free parking is available in the parking lot adjacent to the Gardena Cinema on the north side.

HOW DO I REDEEM MY TICKET?

Upon purchase, ticket will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment from Eventbrite. When you arrive to the event, please show the entrance attendant the bar code on your ticket at the entrance to the cinema, either by holding up your printed version, or by displaying it on your phone or smart device. Attendant will scan it to check you in, and you'll be good to go into the auditorium!

CAN I BRING FOOD / SNACKS?

NO! This is an indoor screening. Please do not bring outside food or drinks inside the cinema. Tasty refreshments and fresh popped popcorn will be sold at the cinema snack bar.

WILL YOU HAVE RESTROOMS?

YES! Gardena Cinema's lobby, snack bar, and restrooms will be open.

MAY I BRING MY PET WITH ME?

Sorry, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE THE ACTUAL CINEMA BUILDING, (where restrooms and snack bar are located).
