Urban trees face a wide range of stressors, from poor planting practices and unsuitable species choices to soil compaction and invasive pests.

This workshop is tailored for arborists, urban foresters, landscape professionals, and municipal staff who manage and maintain trees in developed areas.

Info: This talk will help attendees identify common palm species grown in the Coastal Plain and learn about their proper management and care techniques, including pest management via chemical and non-chemical methods.

Info: Attendees will learn proper planting and maintenance techniques, including irrigation and fertilization strategies, for common urban tree species grown in the Coastal Plain.

Info: The identification of common arthropods and diseases will be discussed, as will their chemical and non-chemical management techniques.

Info: Attendees will get a refresher on proper pesticide storage, use, and disposal, as well as updates on current and expired active ingredients.

Info: This section will focus on factors that stress urban trees, pests that tend to attack stressed trees, and chemical and nonchemical management and mitigation methods.

Info: This talk will help attendees be able to identify yellow-legged hornets and their nests, which are often placed in trees. Safety around YLH will be discussed as will proper responses should one be encountered.
