Let’s make some noise—creatively! Using recycled tin cans, we’ll design and build our own drums, then bring them to life with rhythm and sound. This workshop invites kids and grown-ups alike to explore making, decorating, and playing together.

Talking Drums Workshop is an engaging experience that introduces you to diverse rhythms from around the world, teaching various drumming styles on instruments like the darbuka, frame drum, and djembe. Together, we will explore rhythms using drums, percussive instruments, and our own bodies as we create music together that reflects our collective creativity and energy as a percussive ensemble. Learn to express yourself in a new way while enhancing your listening skills and teamwork abilities.

Shai Wetzer is a Brooklyn-baseddrummer, composer, and producer. Shai has performed and recorded with a wide range of musical artists across multiple genres, including the legendary Israeli pop-rock band Kaveret and several of its members. He has performed in Europe, South Africa, South America, Canada, Israel, and the United States. He is known for his dynamic and versatile playing style that seamlessly blends global rhythms with contemporary sound.

Shai is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and has been a judge for the John Lennon Songwriting Contest since 2017. In addition to playing gigs with various musicians and groups, Shai is currently producing, composing, and playing on his new two - volume project "You Can Hear It Your Own Way" on his label, Lahit.
