About this Event
Join an inspiring community of writers June 8–9, 2026 at the Georgetown Community Center for UPLIT — a writing conference celebrating kindness, connection, and community through craft, stories, and support. UPLIT brings together dynamic authors whose work champions literacy and creativity, offering sessions, conversations, and camaraderie for writers at all stages.
- Stephen Briseño – English teacher with nearly two decades of teaching experience and award-winning children’s author of The Notebook Keeper: A Story of Kindness from the Border and Tamales for Christmas, as well as co-author of Text Structures From Picture Books.
- Kayla Briseño – Educator and co-author of Text Structures from Picture Books and Text Structures From Nonfiction Picture Books, books that deepen understanding of text analysis and writing through picture books.
- Travis Leech – Literacy expert, teacher educator, and author of Patterns of Power and Patterns of Revision series, resources that transform writing instruction with practical, student-centered strategies.
- Heather Alambarrio – Teacher and education consultant who works to leverage teacher training to empower students of all backgrounds and abilities to enjoy writing and use it to share their stories.
Dates: June 8–9
Time: 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. each day
Participants will be sent a payment link 2 weeks prior to the conference. Payment will be processed through a different platform and instructions will be included on the email.
Registration is limited to 150 participants.
Once capacity is reached, registration will close and a waitlist will be offered.
