Don’t throw those shrunken wool sweaters away! Reuse your old clothing to make functional art in the form of upcycled mittens. Felted wool is perfect for sewing into these fun and funky mitts, which are naturally easy to care for and above all, warm. Instructor Kim Bigard will guide you in laying out your pattern, cutting pieces, and machine stitching them to make durable winter wear. Students are welcome to bring any old wool sweaters they wish to cut up (preshrink in the washer and dryer, please!), and we will have an assortment of pieces and fleece fabric available to choose from. If you have a sewing machine, you may bring it; otherwise, machines are available to borrow. Beginners are welcome.This workshop will be held from 1-4 pm, Saturday, January 17, in the Idonea Hersee Classroom at Art Reach, 111 E. Broadway in Mount Pleasant.
Recommended age: 13 and up
Please note: An active membership is not required to register. Active members receive a 15% discount on classes.
