UP & Coming Fest is a community-driven, indie-leaning music and arts festival in Fargo, North Dakota, created to highlight local talent and bring people together in a way that feels real, welcoming, and rooted in connection. Featuring 13 local bands, art vendors, and a full day of live music, the festival takes place on August 29, 2026, with doors at 11:00 AM, music beginning at 11:30 AM, and performances continuing through 10:00 PM.
Held at the UP District Festival Field and intentionally capped at around 750 attendees, the event is designed to feel intimate and engaging—giving attendees the chance to truly connect with the music, the artists, and each other.
The festival is presented by Simply Strangers—an emerging band composed of musicians who are deeply passionate about supporting and collaborating within the local music scene. UP & Coming Fest was created as a reflection of Simply Stranger’s own experience with music and the community around it. Having seen firsthand how music can bring people together, create belonging, and help people through different seasons of life, they wanted to build something that gives that same feeling back to the Fargo community—while also creating more opportunities for local artists to grow.
UP & Coming Fest showcases the energy and evolution of Fargo’s music scene while keeping the focus on accessibility, community, and supporting local creatives. It’s designed to feel less like a large-scale production and more like a shared experience—where artists and attendees are part of the same moment.
The festival also prioritizes giving back. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Excite Music, a nonprofit that provides music scholarships to underserved youth in the area. Many of these students are involved in programs like Elevate Rock School—one of the featured bands—making the festival a full-circle moment that supports the next generation of local musicians.
