Learn to weave with invasive species!
About this Event

Help us prepare the ground for native plantings, and weave baskets with the invasive ivy we will remove. This section of Still Creek is overrun with invasive species like English ivy and holly. Almost 90% of the ground cover here is invasive. At this session we will be clearing ivy from the ground to prepare the space for upcoming planting sessions with local schools.

After an hour and a half of removal we will use the ivy to create small baskets. It’s a way to reuse what we’ve removed and create something beautiful out of the process of restoration. No experience is necessary for this event, everyone can learn to weave at this session.

Still Moon Arts will provide gloves and all tools necessary for both removal and weaving. Just bring yourself, some rain gear, and water!

This event is led by Still Moon’s Stewardship Program Manager, Connelly Stirling, who is keen on community stewardship and loves to share knowledge about birds, bugs, and plants!
