About this Event
UNLEARNING THE BODY 🤍
An Afrocentric Dance with Grace Movement Experience

What happens when you stop worrying about how you're supposed to move and start exploring how you actually want to move?

Women carry so much — expectations, emotions, responsibilities, and ideas about how our bodies should look, behave, and exist.

Unlearning the Body is a movement experience created for women to step away from those expectations and reconnect with themselves through dance, Afro-inspired movement, music, self-expression, and play.

This is a space to move without the pressure to perform or get everything “right.”

What can I expect?

You can expect a dynamic, welcoming experience that blends:

💃🏾 Guided movement and dance
🥁 Afro rhythms plus faith centered music
✨ Freestyle and personal expression
🤝🏾 Individual and group movement
🤍 Reflection and intentional moments of connection

You'll be moving throughout the experience — but this isn't a traditional dance class.

The goal isn't to master choreography or become a better dancer.

It's to experience your body differently.

Do I need dance experience?

No.

Whether you dance regularly or haven't danced in years, you belong here.

There is no audition, no “right” way to move, and no expectation that you have to perform for anyone.

What does “Unlearning the Body” mean?

From a young age, we learn messages about our bodies — how they should look, how much space they should take up, and even how they're allowed to move.

Sometimes those messages become so familiar that we forget what it feels like to move simply because it feels good.

Unlearning the Body is an invitation to explore movement beyond those expectations.

To take up space.
To play.
To express.
To connect.
To move freely.

What does Afrocentric mean?

This experience is rooted in African and Afro-diasporic movement, rhythm, music, and expression.

African influence is woven into the movement experience — creating a space where rhythm, culture, connection, and joy come together.

Who is this for?

For women who want to:

• Move and dance without judgment
• Reconnect with their bodies
• Explore movement beyond choreography
• Experience Afro-inspired movement and music
• Meet and connect with other women
• Give themselves permission to play and experience joy

You don't need to be a dancer. You don't need to be flexible. You don't need to know what you're doing.

Just come as you are.

Come move.
Come feel.
Come explore.

Come Unlearn the Body. 🤍

Dance with Grace is a space where movement brings us together — a place for expression, connection, and joy for all.
