University Choir Christmas Concert

The University Choir will present the perfect musical feast in their annual concert, helping to kickstart Christmas on campus!

The programme will feature two seasonal pieces from Katy Lavinia Cooper’s Twelve trees choral work (words by Catriona Downie), which is inspired by trees, history, folklore and traditional music from the British Isles. The two pieces are No. 11 November – The Holly Tree and No. 12 December – Ash Tree.

In addition to plenty of Christmas favourites – with some possible audience participation – is Navidad Nuestra by Argentinian composer Ariel Ramirez. This is a folk drama of the Nativity, based on the rhythms and traditions of Hispanic America. A student guitarist will accompany the Choir for this.

The University Choir is made up of students, staff, alumni and members of the local community. They rehearse on Monday evenings during term time and welcome new members.

Cope Auditorium has step free access and there is an accessible toilet in the main foyer. The auditorium has wheelchair user spaces in the flat floor seating area and is fitted with an induction (hearing) loop. Wheelchair users may bring a carer with them at no extra cost – please select a wheelchair ticket and a wheelchair carer ticket. A wheelchair carer ticket will not be valid on its own.

Please note that visitors are required to register their vehicle and pay to park on campus. There is a flat evening rate of £1 after 6pm. There are various ways in which you can register and pay (both in advance and on arrival). Parking outside Cope Auditorium is not available to non-permit holders prior to 6pm.

The kiosk in the foyer will be open before the concert starts and during the interval serving hot and cold drinks and snacks (card payment only).

Photography and/or filming may be taking place at this event. If you do not consent to your photo being taken/being filmed and this used for publicity purposes, then please alert the photographer/videographer/event organiser on the day.

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is postponed or cancelled.
