About this Event
Unique Canvas: The Art of Danyi Hong
Danyi Hong has been making art on a variety of surfaces, each one driving her creativity and painting skills and bringing her immense joy. For this exhibit at Studio PAUSE, Danyi brought in ink paintings done on regular paper, paintings on river stones, and angel paintings representing those lost to COVID-19. When her friend Gary Shulman was at The Kindness Activist’s recent annual flea market sale, he saw Danyi painting on old white lampshades. The end result was gorgeous! We decided to include that as well in this exhibit to showcase Danyi’s unique canvas. Please join us for this free event! Light refreshments will be served. All artworks by Danyi are for sale and we will accept cash, checks, and credit card.
7:15 - Painting demo by Danyi
7:30 - Artist's remarks
8:00 - Sales begin. Cash, checks, credit cards accepted.
“I studied Chinese art in Shenzhen University and my mother studied in Shanghai Art Institute. I got first class art prize in Arlington, VA, in 2018. In my 10 years in Arlington I have painted 18,000 pieces of art, and had 7 shows. I had a show in Northern Virginia Community College in 2019, and donated 280 artworks to Capital Care. I have a show at Arlington Public Library’s Glen Carlyn branch. I painted big art works for Arlington Turkey Trot for two years and donated it to Arlington county. I want to use my art to say thanks to the great country, America, and the great American people’s spirit. You can see my work on Facebook and Instagram.” - Danyi Hong

A big THANK YOU to Erin Thompson, LCSW, (Behavioral Healthcare Division, Department of Human Services, Arlington County); and Gary Shulman, MS. Ed., (Advisory Commissioner for The Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families and National Advocate and Workshop Presenter,) who encourage Danyi and care that her talents be shared with the Arlington community. In our 12th year, Studio PAUSE is thrilled to collaborate with them to create our Caring & Sharing Project 2024. Collaborating with people, organizations, or groups who care for members of our community and encourage their creativity, we help share their art and stories in ways that works for the creatives, and offer a stipend to help with materials and travel.
