Join us for a one-day special event celebrating the thrill of discovery and the hidden stories beneath our feet. This series of talks brings together archaeologists, curators, and experts to explore the fascinating world of archaeological Treasure - from buried hoards and lost artefacts to the communities and schemes that help bring these stories to light.We will hear from the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), the nationwide initiative that encourages members of the public to record archaeological finds and learn how the PAS has revolutionised our understanding of the past, with more than a million discoveries logged to date, many transforming our view of local and national history.
We will also hear from those involved with local archaeology and find out more about the fascinating archaeological record of our local area and how finds connect us to the people who lived, traded, and farmed here centuries ago. Hear first-hand from the archaeologists who painstakingly uncover the past layer by layer.
Perfect for history enthusiasts, amateur archaeologists, and curious minds of all ages, this event promises a unique opportunity to explore the treasures of the past and the treasures of discovery itself.
