This course provides real estate professionals with a clear and practical overview of the underwriting process. Participants will learn how underwriters evaluate a borrower’s credit, income, assets, and property to determine loan eligibility. The class breaks down complex lending guidelines into easy-to-understand concepts, helping agents better anticipate potential issues that may affect their clients’ financing. By understanding what happens behind the scenes, attendees will gain the tools to set proper expectations, improve communication between all parties, and confidently guide clients through one of the most important financial decisions of their lives.

Darrel Cates has spent over 25 years in the mortgage industry, starting as a Loan Officer, transitioning into underwriting, and ultimately returning to loan origination. This journey gave him the ability to understand both the client-facing side of lending and the behind-the-scenes decision-making process that determines loan approvals. His underwriting background allows him to anticipate potential challenges before they arise, while his loan officer experience ensures clients receive personalized solutions tailored to their needs.
