About this Event
Master the mining industry in a modern and interactive 3-day course that builds an understanding of the mining industry and investments in the current economic climate.
The course includes topical sessions including:
Day 1 - Introduction to Mining (mine life stages, exploration, mining studies, the mining process, design and planning, quantification and interpretation, extraction and processing, rehabilitation)
Day 2 - The Economics of Mining (operations into economics, exploration expenditure, determining capital requirements, mining equipment options, economic evaluation)
Day 3 - Financing and Deal-making (raising funds and financial instruments, equity investments, debt and project finance, joint ventures, marketing and off-take agreements, technical report and media release interpretation)
Registration includes breakfast and lunch for each day, course manual, all instructor slides used during the course and a certificate.
The course may count towards continuing education credits for professional designations for investment advisors, accountants, lawyers and engineers, etc.
The course takes place in Toronto just prior to the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Convention and Trade Show making it convenient and cost-effective for you to participate.
Early bird pricing of $2,950 is in effect until January 27, 2025 at which time regular rates of $3,500 apply.
About your Instructor
Your course leader is Dr. Willem Smuts Pr.Sci.Nat., who has over 30 years technical and management experience in research, exploration, mining and consulting covering Central, South and North America, Africa and SEA. He has extensive success in leadership roles in environments ranging from government, small consultancy to global corporations.
Dr. Smuts has successfully coordinated and executed exploration programs for several commodities, including coal, industrial minerals, gold and diamonds. He was the Editor of three award-winning mining magazines with a global readership and has served on the boards of several international private junior companies.
