Understanding Suicide--What Mental Health Professionals Need to Know
Participants will explore professional competency and scope of practice, personal readiness to treat high-risk clients, and the ethical and legal considerations involved in suicide assessment and intervention. The training will also review levels of care for both voluntary and involuntary clients and available community resources.
Participants will:

Review ethical and legal requirements related to suicide assessment and management
Learn current models, screening tools, and structured approaches to suicide risk assessment
Identify and assess risk and protective factors
Strengthen documentation practices throughout the assessment and treatment process
Explore levels of care and referral options for voluntary and involuntary clients
Recognize the importance of collaboration and clinician self-care
